Choosing Care Options

What options for long term care are available?

What resources are available to help decide which care option is best for me or my family member?

What care setting options are available?
Nationwide, the State of Oregon is a leader when it comes to offering care-setting choices for seniors and people with disabilities. Whether a person needs just a little help or extensive hands-on care, there are options available throughout the state. Oregonians may receive long term care services at home, or in home-like settings, such as, adult foster homes, residential care and assisted living facilities, or in nursing facilities that include skilled and intermediate care. If you would like to learn more about the various care-setting options, click on one of the links below.

What resources are available to help decide what care option is best for me or my family member?
Having a choice is nice, but the variety of options can be confusing. Senior & Disabled Services Information and Referral can help those that are interested in pursuing publicly funded services. For those able to pay privately, there are private case management companies that can assist individuals and families to find the best care setting or care giver. Please check the Yellow Pages under “Disabled Persons Assistance” or “Senior Citizens’ Services” for more information on private case management companies.
